The Arizona Cardinals put defender Rashard Lawrence and offensive lineman J. R. Sweezy in the injured reserve, the team announced on Saturday afternoon.
Both players were injured during the week 5 game against the New York Jets on Sunday. Lawrence, a freshman, injured his calf while Sweezy sustained an elbow injury.
No corresponding duty roster movements were announced immediately.
Rules changes for this season only allow three weeks of missed time for the injured reserve before players are eligible to return to the field of play.
Sweezy played over 90% of the offensive snaps for the first four weeks of the season before injuring himself against the Jets. He played all 16 games for the Cardinals last season, his first in Arizona.
Lawrence recorded a total of three tackles in the first five games of his career. He was a fourth-round draft pick from LSU.
Linebacker Kylie Fitts was also excluded from the week six game against the Dallas Cowboys. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Saturday the team is still unsure whether linebacker Devon Kennard or safety Jalen Thompson can play against Dallas.
The Monday Night Football game starts at 5:15 pm.
