WHAT IS HAPPENING: The Broncos (5-8) host their first home matches of the season this Friday and Saturday at the annual Boise State Beach Classic. The Broncos will join an impressive field of Pac-12 opponents, including No. 9 Arizona, No. 20 Arizona State and Utah. The Broncos will play four matches that will be the team’s final matches of the regular season.
THE SCHEDULE: Boise State will open action in the first match of the tournament on Friday against the No. 20 Sun Devils at noon, then turn around to face the No. 9 Wildcats later in the evening at 6 p.m. On Saturday Boise State begins the day against Arizona State again at noon, followed by a contest against Utah at 2 p.m. to finish out the tournament.

SENIOR DAY: The four Boise State seniors Kylee Johnson, Maya Watkins, Evi Wilson and Sedona Hansen will all be honored following the final match on Saturday. Fans are encouraged to stay and help recognize the four seniors.

BOISE STATE VERSUS THE FIELD: The Broncos 3-4 against Arizona State all time and beat the Sun Devils earlier this season (March 6) at the Cactus Classic in Tucson, Ariz. Boise State is 0-7 all-time against Arizona, including two losses earlier this season in Tucson (March 7) where the Broncos were swept 5-0 and at San Luis Obispo, Calif., (March 21) where they lost 4-1, both were extremely competitive contests. The Blue and Orange faced Utah earlier this season on March 19, sweeping the Utes 5-0 and improving their record against them to 2-0 all-time.

WHAT HAPPENED: Boise State traveled to Fort Worth, Texas, for four matches that saw them go 1-3 on the weekend. The team lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the second time this season 1-4 in their first match, then bounced back to beat Houston Baptist 3-2 later in the afternoon on April 9. The Broncos dropped two matches the following day, losing 4-1 to Tulane and 0-5 to No. 7 TCU.


JOHNSON LOOKING FOR RECORD WIN: Boise State senior Kylee Johnson is currently tied for the most career wins as an individual with 28, one win this weekend in her final four contests in the Blue and Orange will move her into sole possession.
TOP PAIR: Boise State is led by its No. 1 pair of Erin Martin and Evi Wilson on the year in total matches played as the tandem enters the weekend at 13-7 overall after going 6-0 to win the top bracket title at Corban’s April AVCA Pairs Tournament, they are 7-3 in their last 10 contests and 4-9 in team duals.
JOHNSON AND McDONALD: Kylee Johnson and Ellie McDonald follow Erin Martin and Wilson going 9-7 to date. They are 9-1 in pairs tournaments and won the Silver Bracket title at Corban’s March AVCA Pairs Tournament. The duo is 4-7 in team dual competition on court five.
TEAM RECORD: Overall, the Broncos are 5-8 in team duals, five of those defeats have come at the hands of AVCA Top-20 ranked teams.
TALENTED FRESHMEN: The freshmen tandem of Rorianna Chartier and Kaylee Mejia have the top pairs record in team duals going 5-4 overall while playing at the No. 3 position.


HEAD COACH: Allison Voigt returns for her third season as the head coach after serving the previous two as the assistant. In her first campaign at the helm of the Broncos, Boise State recorded its best season in program history at 13-6 with notable wins over Oregon, Nebraska and Utah. Her current record stands at 19-17 overall and 4-5 in 2021.

ASSISTANT COACH: Voigt is joined by Alex Venardos who is in his second season as her assistant coach. He is a Boise State alumnus who spent his undergraduate career assisting with both the indoor and beach teams.
